Hollow within me, or Bag of Holding

Postby Inque » Sun Feb 28, 2010 6:30 pm

Is there a way to make the opening to a Hollow inside a character's body? Would, say, the mouth be a large enough opening?

The idea is less like a typical Hollow and more like a personal Bag of Holding.

You certainly can do such a thing. It's a little harder as the normal method of getting a gate into your hollow is to go thru it, grab it, and carry it into your hollow. With this you can't go thru so you have to find it from another gateway or send a small friend thru or use a more esoteric method to get the gate to your hollow.

An important consideration and question: Would such a self-gate be usable within the Hedge?

Worse.. what happens when you bring such a gateway, even a closed one, into the Hedge... I would think one would be *really* cautious about having it a part of your body, on the off chance something rather non-euclidean and very messy happens..

You cannot open it from the hedge as it only goes from the mortal world to the hedge.

Uhm.. I do remember such a debate coming up earlier. Not to raise argument, but rather a curious debate, in the book it requires a fixed archway or frame of some sort. I don't really see much in the way of fixed structures of the body, especially parts that are easy or pleasant to access.
Then again, I guess I can go for my hollow door in a book idea.

I admit the body part usage is very prone to abuse, as was shown by the attempts to open gates between legs, held arms, random necklaces, etc. I'm in favor of limiting that, it gives too much abusive power to the setting that can't be rationalized why it hasn't imploded by now.

So, I would ask no 'Hollow' as normally meant in the setting here, please. Instead, a specific 'space' or other aspect that is not inherently the Hedge and specific to the character, the character's Wyrd, or a token would be an obvious alternative that limits itself.

Oooh, lots of feedback! I guess I'll just wait on any official ruling. The important thing I'm going for is a sort of personal space to keep things in - I like the idea of being able to make things "disappear" into my character.

The idea of it being a Hollow was just one way I thought it may or may not work. Of course, buying up Ward would be important, otherwise things might start crawling out of me at inopportune times.
