How should Trifles be handled?

Creating a Trifle requires a dot of hedgespinning material but should almost always provide a boon.

Concerning Trifles

Recently the question of how to handle trifles has been raised. In the core book we learn that with materials from the hedge you can create(by some unspecified process) hedgespun and by other means create one shot magic items known as trifles.

In Rights of Spring we learn how hedgespinning works and that the materials for it can be obtained at a rate or one or occasionally two dots per game by means of participating in stories in the hedge. This in turn would imply that trifles, being made from the same thing as hedgespun, would require these dots of hedge stuff to create.

However, the counter view is that trifles should be more easily made, requiring more readily available dross from the hedge similar to goblin fruit. In this case tho we can assume that trifles can be more easily made but, like goblin fruits, most aren't necessarily beneficial and randomly using them is liable to be hazardous to one's health.

The middle option of course is to allow anything from the hedge to be made into a trifle but only those trifles made from hedgespinning ingredients are useful and safe where those made from common dross are "interesting" and/or dangerous.

So, what view do people prefer?

I had thought Trifles to be *found* items, not somethign one can reliably create.. You might try leaving an old magnifying glass on the other side of a Hedge gate, but it might or might not enchant.. or it might falla part.. or it might literally get up and walk away.. or you might not be able to find it.. etc.

Oddements are goblin fruits you don't eat making them one shot magic items. They can be found thruought the hedge and may or may not be helpful. Tokens are things that have been changed by the magic of farie or the hedge. Trifles are made by investment of will into things of the hedge. Gewgaws are zero dot tokens that do things that are often interesting but not very helpful. Hedgespun is of course made from things in the hedge and can be subdevided into raiment(and other normal but cool items), tokens, and Automatons.
Point being Changeling has allot of different names for slightly different types of magic items that all step on each others toes a bit.
