Swords at Dawn

Swords has much that is awesome, but also much that is broken. (And a fair bit that I feel is rather unneccesary.)

So far, things that are Awesome.

Contract of Board. (Become the ultimate general, by playing chess....)

Contract of Thorn and Bramble. (Invite the hedge into the mortal world. Come on, you know you want to.)

Fatebound Merits (You have a role in the story, unfortunately, part of your role is to get hosed. regularly. )

Nifty new goblin contracts and dream merits. (Bastion: Build a hollow inside your motley's dreams.)

Things that need to be fixed.

It's awesome. And as written, it lets you spend 2 glamour to dictate the outcome of events with no roll and no downside. (Not how it is intended to by used, but is one fucking *huge* loophole!)

On the other hand, I like the fact that you can cause fate to take an active hand in stories (with the down side that unless you get an exceptional success on your Wyrd roll to shape the story, the story always has a fatal flaw.) Also, it's addictive. And if you get addicted, you become Hope. (No, really, literally, we went down the list of sympmtoms of adiction, and Hope has damn near every one of them except for the compulsion to talespin.)
